Back by popular demand, a Game Monday! We may not always have a game for you on Mondays, but we will do our best to consistently provide activities you can use as you’re planning your group time. If you have a game you’d like to share on the blog, feel free to email [email protected].
Setting
This is a great game for any size group. It can be played inside or outside. Instruct the group to stand together, shoulder-to-shoulder in a circle. To begin the game, lead participants to look down. The leader will say, “Look Up.” Everyone will look up and look at someone in the circle. If another person in the circle is also looking at them, both participants are out of the game. If the person they are looking at is looking at someone else, they are safe. When the leader says, “Look Down,” all participants look back at the ground. Repeat this as you have time.
Variation
If two participants look at each other, instead of being “out,” they are to scream. The object then becomes to have no screams.
Leadership Hints
This is a good activity to use during inclement weather when other things planned are not going to be able to take place.
Application
Often we go about our business not thinking about others and not looking them in the eyes when we are talking to them. We also have times in our lives when we know that if we look someone in the eye we will have to slow down and focus on that person for a while. Just like in this game, looking each other in the eye changed where we were wanting to go and the plans we had, but we all need to be open to what God has planned for us and not just our own daily plans.
