David Murray – Jesus On Every Page
“Jesus Christ is the towering figure of world history. As such, He casts a bright shadow not only forward over all post-Bethlehem history, but also backward over all Old Testament history that led up to Him. He is the person to whom and from whom all history flows. His luminous shadow brightens both BC and AD, but it is especially the BC years we wish to explore in this book.”
David Murray does a superb job of discussing his journey into seeing Jesus in all of Scripture, to sharing ten simple principles to help the reader learn to see Jesus in all of the Old Testament. It is so intimidating sometimes to hear people share stories from the Old Testament in a way that is very Christ-centered and Jesus-focused and wonder why you have never seen it that way. David shares his own Emmaus road experience as he learned how to move from a moralistic theology to a Christ-centered theology.
“I wanted to share not only the result of what the Lord has taught me but also how He patiently led me there. Jesus found me as He found Hid disciples: ‘foolish… and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken.’ However, He graciously expounded to me in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself, until eventually my heart burned within me as He opened the scriptures to me.”
It was such an encouragement to know that there is still a journey that can be taken with Jesus on the Emmaus road where He will walk with us and teach us all things concerning Himself. If you would like to know more about seeing Jesus in the Old Testament and learning how to create a Christ-centered view of Scripture, this would be a book worth your time.
