I became a Pat Williams fan when I first heard him speak at a Student Leadership University event in Orlando, FL. Pat is the Senior Vice President for the Orlando Magic and is the author of 90 books. His newest book is the one I’m recommending to you today: 21 Great Leaders: Learn Their Lessons, Improve Your Influence. Pat makes the case that to improve in your own leadership you need to study the lives of great leaders. As a result, he will tell you the story of 21 great leaders, pointing out principles that he has gleaned from his own study. This book is quickly becoming one of my favorites on leadership.

The second book on our list today is one by Student Leadership University Vice President Brent Crowe. In his book, Chasing Elephants: Wrestling with the Gray Areas of Life, Brent carefully examines the biblical subject of freedom in Christ focusing on how to make decisions in areas that the Bible doesn’t specifically address. Taking into account values, priorities, accountability, and cultural issues, Brent extracts a set of principles to act as a theology of belief for the seemingly gray areas of life. With these principles as a guide, you will be prepared to handle the moral or ethical decisions you will face in life.
