Seven and a half years ago, I stepped away from full time student ministry in the local church to begin leading the student ministry area for Lifeway Christian Resources. Over the years many have asked why I made that move and the answer to that question is as clear to me as it has ever been. I came to Lifeway because of you—the student pastor. I came to Lifeway because I believed it was the best place I could live out the calling and desire that God has placed in my heart to serve, encourage, lead, and resource you as a student pastor. My goal here at Lifeway has been to shape what we do to that end; to continually improve in everything we do so that we can serve you well in your mission of making disciples of teenagers and their families. I came to Lifeway because I believe in you and in what you do.
This blog has been around for a little while. It has served as a home for our weekly podcast episodes and in all transparency, there was a time where we were a lot more consistent with written content as well. Think of this month as a re-launch without the balloons and confetti. I’m excited for you to see what’s coming!
For starters, we’ve enlisted some incredible student pastors as part of our blog team. I will still be very involved on the blog, along with some of our other Lifeway Students leaders, but as we look toward the future of this space, I wanted to work alongside current student pastors so there is a constant connection to and voice directly from the local church. Second, this will continue to be the home of the Lifeway Students podcast. Thank you for listening so faithfully and telling your student ministry friends about it. I’ve enjoyed meeting so many of you at conferences and various other meetings. Keep stopping by to say hello. Third, I am working on a new project that will be making its appearance here this month, as well. The new project is called “Student Ministry That Matters with Ben Trueblood” and will be a YouTube channel devoted to equipping and encouraging student pastors personally, practically, and professionally. I can’t wait for you to see it!
